The evil in you - AT VANCE

I have in my hands the limited edition of the new disc of Swedish At Vance, " The evil in you ". I must say that it had only heard a song of this band that I could download of their Official Website and that I liked so much that today I have left specially to look for a disc his and I have been bought nothing less than three. The band has surprised me much, because I don't like often groups tat don't sing in spanish (it isn't 'cause I don't want to hear stranger groups, it's that those that I have heard not attract me). I knew the group a Saturday that I go out with some friends... They had finished the concert which they did with Kamelot and Saratoga in Barcelona and were drinking on the bar of opposite. It surprised me that they were there, taking photos with all and signing autographs to everyone ... Really cool guys.

This it is the first disc that releases the band with Mats Leven on vocals. Oliver Hartmann, the old singer had left recently the band because he wants to dedicate more time to his personal subjects and he didn't want to commit with long tours and other commitments that concern a group.

The disc begins with Fallen angel , opening with a fast guitar, getting up itself the rest of instruments until arriving the turn from the voice, an incredible singer (it could not be of another form seeing his musical race). It's a group to which a lot of people classify within power metal, but to me it doesn't seem that thei're the typical power to what we're customary, no that one where you can listen 7 or 8 acute ones by song... There has only been one ending the song... I think that they are a heavy metal band with a little power metal's influence.

Broken Vow is the following one in sounding, with much less force and speed than the previous one speaks to us about a broken love. In this song Mats demonstrates that the band has found a great substitute that occupied the vocals place.

We followed with The evil in you, subject that gives name to the disc. Another "slow" song (to compare it with first, I don't want to mean that it's really slow ...) but very powerful of which I like specially the choruss... ''Cause that's the evil, the evil in you''

Is the turn of Stronger than you think, is in crecendo at the same time that is spending the seconds until the moment at which we can hear the voice of Mats explaining to us that a day the things will change, because we are stronger that we thing. A song that stand up of the chair...

The curtain with fall is another song that although is " slow " immediately move you although you were hearing it on first time. It's a good song, as same as all wich are sounded untill now.

It is the moment to hear One milion miles away , that begins with the sound of the waves is introduced itself, little by little, the rest of instruments until the turn of voice arrives. It's the slowest track in the record, above all characterized by the drums, a bit repetive for me, but even then the track is really good.

Right or wrong begins with a very medieval sound to stop soon and to return in the style of the rest of the disc. This track is powerful and faster than the previous one.

Now sounds Shining star, to which it gives to beginning the sound of an acoustic guitar to which the voice of Mats is united. It is a ballad that takes force in the chorus to return to lower the registry in the rest of the song. It is good, but I have liked more ' ' Princess of the night '', of his second work.

Begins powerfull Street of my dreams, giving as much cane as the song that opened the disc. It's without any doubt one of the best tracks of the album, althought all seems to me very good with the exception of the previous one, to which quite normal, not on height of the rest....

It sounds an instrumental version now, Caprice nº 16. There is something peculiar to me from this band and are thair classic versions of music adapted to the typical rock instruments.

To finish the normal version of the album we have Princess of Ice, another track that quickly make you stand up telling us about an impossible love, a lady with an ice heart to which it is impossible to accede... A great subject to end the disc.

The three following subjects come in a second CD on limited edition. One is three subjects that Oliver Hartmann sings, the ex-singer of the band, the two first writings by he himself (the rest of songs are written by Olaf Lenk).

Angel of the dark can be erased of power metal that we're customary. It doesn't seem to me one of the best tracks of the disc, not 'cause they make it bad, only 'cause it's not my style...

We followed with You will to never take my soul, leaving to a side the power style. It's a song with a lot of force but not much speed. Still with this, we are before another song of which they animate to anyone quickly. The voice seems to me too much acute for me, although it is normal counting hatred that I have towards the acute voices...

N.O.W. is the last track of the special CD, putting full stop to the disc with much force. It's the song that I liked much of these three...

Really, tell you that are a great disc and that those that you have not had the pleasure to still hear these Swedish, I don't know to what you are waiting for, because the disc really is incredible.
